Description
Album: Bitches Ain't Shit But Good People
Label: Suicide Squeeze
Artist: HeLLa
HeLLa's first EP, and i gotta say, its pretty good, very chaotic, im willing to say Spencer Seim
had more control over the EPs than the albums during this time, the chirps and tunes are very present in here
which is why i say that, it also includes "Republic of Rough and Ready" but with Dan Elkan on it!
fun fact about that track: it uses the Demo version of Republic from the "Leather Diamond" Demo CD-r,
Spencer also said in a interview in 2018 with Nick Reinhart, that Dan randomly just showed them a bunch
of songs he had recorder vocals for, we know of atleast one other song that has been released with dan elkan's vocals
which is 1-800-Ghost-Dance, which was released only digitally on the band's website back in 2002
As for how this sounds, its very chaotic, it has a lot of 8bit noises which i think come from Spencer,
i absolutly love "Ho's in the House" and "Rich Kid", as for the title track "Bitches ain't shit..."
its such a werid track, it doesnt really stand out to me, not that its bad but i just dont really care for it
the other tracks make themselfs very much well known, the ending of "Rich Kid" is what makes that track for me,
its just also a very good track,"Ho's in the House" is just in general a very good opener, super simple but such a
banger to just dance to, and also the last track with D.Elkan is fucking awesome, i love elkan, his lyrics on the
track are awesome.
writing this has made me come back to this EP, i think i ignore the HeLLa EPs too much, so its been nice seeing what i actually like about em
